Archaeological Museum of Heraklion

The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is one of the largest and most remarkable museums in Greece and one of the most important in Europe.

In 2005, the extension of the museum, consisting of 2 more buildings, began to be built.

Due to the area and the lack of space, two building cranes were used to erect the addition as well as special equipment in order to make the disclosure and support of Antiquities.

The construction of large circular columns was achieved with the use of Doka equipment. Their large volume and weight were a challenge combined with the risk of collapse of Antiquities.
